THE REVELATION BEHIND THE TREE OF KNOWLEDGE OF GOOD AND EVIL

Genesis 2

• 4 This is the account of the heavens and the earth when they were created, when the LORD God made the earth and the heavens -NIV Bible
• 5 there were no plants on the earth and no seed had sprouted, because he had not sent rain, and there was no one to cultivate the land; -TEV Bible

Genesis 1:26 Then God said, “Let us make mankind in our image, in our likeness," NIV

Colossians 1:15 Christ is the visible likeness of God." -TEV

Us and our is the Triune God, Elohim the creator: Eli (God), Logos (the Word) and Ru'ach (the Spirit).

HUMANS GIVEN POWER OVER ANIMALS BEFORE THEIR CREATION

Genesis 1:26 They will have power over fish, the birds, and all animals, domestic and wild, large and small-TEV

CREATION OF MAN

Genesis 2 TEV

• 7 Then the LORD God took some soil from the ground and formed a man out of it; he breathed life-giving breath into his nostrils and the man began to live.

GOD'S FIRST LAW- NIV Bible

• 8 Now the LORD God had planted a garden in the east, in Eden; and there he put the man he had formed.
• 9 The LORD God made all kinds of trees grow out of the ground-trees that were pleasing to the eye and good for food. In the middle of the garden were the tree of life and the tree of the knowledge of good and evil.
• 15 The LORD God took the man and put him in the Garden of Eden to work it and take care of it.
• 16 And the LORD God commanded the man, “You are free to eat from any tree in the garden;
• 17 but you must not eat from the tree of the knowledge of good and evil, for when you eat from it you will certainly die.”

The LORD God warned because there was death on the tree of Knowledge of good and evil. And death was not their plan for humans. This shows the LORD God's love for people.

THE TRIUNE GOD'S PLAN BEFORE CREATION

Revelation 13:8 except those whose names were written before creation of the world in the book of the living which belongs to the Lamb that was killed. - TEV

The Lamb that was killed is our LORD and Saviour Jesus Christ, the Word that was crucified and died on the cross for our sins. Before creation he had a book of the living which belongs to him that has the names of his people that were to live.

Ephesians 1

• 4 Even before the world was made, God had already chosen us to be his through our union with Christ, so that we would be holy and without fault before him. Because of his love
• 5 God had already decided that through Jesus Christ he would make us his sons and daughters - this was his pleasure and purpose. 

Here we find that God was loving before creation, righteous and Holy

But why were the tree of life and the tree of Knowledge of good and evil that brings death created?

Genesis 2 NIV Bible

• 18 The LORD God said, “It is not good for the man to be alone. I will make a helper suitable for him.”

Adam lived alone, no one, no animal with him created. The LORD had warned him from eating from the tree of Knowledge of good and evil that brings death while he lived alone.

CREATION OF ANIMALS BEFORE THE WOMAN -TEV Bible

• 19 So he took some soil from the ground and formed all the animals and the birds. Then he brought them to the man to see what he would name them; and that's how they all got their names
• 20 So the man named all the birds and all the animals; but not one of them was a Suitable companion to help him. 

Here we learn that Adam was not dump he had knowledge and was in union with the LORD, who is the Word, the Lamb our Saviour, Jesus Christ: Adam gave all animals their names.

THE CREATION OF THE WOMAN

• 21 Then the LORD God made the man fall into deep sleep, and while he was sleeping, he took out one of the man's ribs and closed up the flesh. 
• 22 He formed a woman out of the rib and brought her to him. 
• 23 Then the man said, "At last here is one of my own kind- Bone taken from my bone, and flesh from flesh. 'Woman' is her name because she was take out of the man."
• 25 The man and the woman were both naked, but they were not embarrassed. 

Adam was happy when he was brought the woman by the LORD God.

GOD BLESSED THE MAN AND WOMAN

Genesis 1 TEV Bible

• 27 So God created human beings, making them to be like himself. He created them male and female, 
• 28 blessed them, and said "Have many children, so that your descendents will live all over the earth and bring it under their control. I am putting you in charge of the fish, the birds, and all the wild animals
• 31 God looked at everything he had made, and was very pleased. Evening passed and morning came- that was the sixth day. 

The 6th day was on Friday and humans were created and finish the same day. Jesus Christ was crucified and died for our sins on Friday, for our new creation in union with him.

2 Corinthians 5:17 Anyone who is joined to Christ is a new being, the old is gone, the new has come.

HUMAN DISOBEDIENCE- SIN AND WHY?

There's still a question that's unanswered: "But why were the tree of life and the tree of Knowledge of good and evil that brings death created?" This is a good question especially when we know we were planned and loved before creation!

Genesis 3

• 1 Now the serpent was more crafty than any of the wild animals the LORD God had made. He said to the woman, “Did God really say, ‘You must not eat from any tree in the garden’?”

This serpent spoke a human language!
This animal asked a question about eating from any tree in the garden!
This animal, a serpent asked the woman, not the man!
Where did this animal get this for this Law was given to Adam before animals and the woman created?
Why all this?

Revelation 12:9 The huge dragon was thrown out - that ancient serpent, called the Devil, or Satan that deceived the whole world-TEV

The serpent is the Devil, Satan and he asked the woman to deceive her!

1 Timothy 2

• 13 For Adam was created first, and then Eve.
• 14 And it was not Adam who was deceived; it was the woman who was deceived and broke God's law. -TEV

The serpent used the word "really"! Meaning indeed or truly. This means he has heard it before! But from whom and when?!

• 2 The woman said to the serpent, “We may eat fruit from the trees in the garden,
• 3 but God did say, ‘You must not eat fruit from the tree that is in the middle of the garden, and you must not touch it, or you will die.’”

The woman knew what God said! "How?" I don't know! But I do know that the LORD God did not say anything about touching the tree!
I am concluding that she heard the Law from Adam not from the LORD God. But I DON'T KNOW!

• 4 “You will not certainly die,” the serpent said to the woman.
• 5 “For God knows that when you eat from it your eyes will be opened, and you will be like God, knowing good and evil.”

The serpent, who is Satan the Devil, made God to seem a liar, that they won't die!
Verse 5 tells us that good and evil existed somewhere! And the only way to know this good and evil was through eating from its tree! But the LORD God protected humans from eating from this tree by forbidding them from eating it. Why was this tree created?

• 6 When the woman saw that the fruit of the tree was good for food and pleasing to the eye, and also desirable for gaining wisdom, she took some and ate it. She also gave some to her husband, who was with her, and he ate it.

We find her husband was with her when the serpent deceived her.
She wanted wisdom. We find that there is God's wisdom for us before creation and this wisdom was for our glory! It comes from His Spirit as well as knowledge, not from the tree.

1 Corinthians 2:7 The wisdom I proclaim is God's hidden wisdom which he had already chosen for our glory even before the world was made. -TEV

1 Corinthians 12:8 The Spirit gives one person a message full of wisdom, while to another person the same Spirit gives a message full of knowledge. -TEV

If God chose before creation that we would have His wisdom for our glory and receive knowledge as a gift from His Spirit then this tree of knowledge of good and evil that brings death was not for us, humans.
The power that humans were given over animals was destroyed for a serpent is an animal!

• 7 Then the eyes of both of them were opened, and they realized they were naked; so they sewed fig leaves together and made coverings for themselves.

Already their eyes were opened and they realized they were naked. So they used their hands to make out of leaves a covering. Now humans started to do things with their hands.

• 8 Then the man and his wife heard the sound of the LORD God as he was walking in the garden in the cool of the day, and they hid from the LORD God among the trees of the garden. 
• 9 But the LORD God called to the man, “Where are you?”
• 10 He answered, “I heard you in the garden, and I was afraid because I was naked; so I hid.”
• 11 And he said, “Who told you that you were naked? Have you eaten from the tree that I commanded you not to eat from?”
• 12 The man said, “The woman you put here with me-she gave me some fruit from the tree, and I ate it.”
• 13 Then the LORD God said to the woman, “What is this you have done?” The woman said, “The serpent deceived me, and I ate.”

Both didn't take a responsibility! Adam blamed the LORD God and the woman. The woman blamed the serpent. This is foolish wisdom from the tree of knowledge of good and evil that brings death! Verse 13 shows that what the woman did was a disaster!

• 22 And the LORD God said, “The man has now become like one of us, knowing good and evil. He must not be allowed to reach out his hand and take also from the tree of life and eat, and live forever.”

That's why the tree of life created, to live forever!  I am concluding that the tree of knowledge of good and evil that brings death was created for the Devil who is Satan, the serpent because he has sinned from the very beginning.


HUMAN FALL

• 23 So the LORD God banished him from the Garden of Eden to work the ground from which he had been taken. 
• 24 After he drove the man out, he placed on the east side of the Garden of Eden cherubim and a flaming sword flashing back and forth to guard the way to the tree of life.

Proverbs 3:18 Those who become wise are happy; wisdom will give them life- TEV

That's not what the tree of knowledge of good and evil that brings death did!

NEW CREATION IN CHRIST JESUS

1 John 3:8 Whoever continues to sin belongs to the Devil, because the Devil has sinned from the very beginning. The Son of God appeared for this very reason, to destroy what the Devil had done.

John 2

• 18 The Jewish authorities replied with a question, "What miracle can you perform to show us that you have the right to do this?"
• 19 Jesus answered, "Tear down this Temple, and in three days I will build it again."
• 20 "Are you going to build it again in three days?" they asked him. "It has taken us fourty six years to build this temple!"
• 21 But the temple Jesus was speaking about was his body
• 22 So when he was raised from death, his disciples remembered that he had said this.

1 Peter 3:18 For Christ died for sins once and for all, a good man on behalf of sinners, in order to lead you to God.

On Friday the 6th day of creation humans were created and finish the same day. Jesus Christ was crucified and died for our sins on Friday, for our new creation in union with him.

2 Corinthians 5

• 17 Anyone who is joined to Christ is a new being, the old is gone, the new has come.
• 18 All this is done by God, who through Christ changed us from enemies into his friends and gave us the task of making others his friends also.
