WHAT IS SIN?

Hi, I come to you via this article on this blog to share with you what I know about SIN. Personally I've been this road before learning about what sin is, but only now I ready understand without a lot of questions left and feeling offence about sin, that I now just want to shout to the LORD "Thank you Father for dealing with sin like this from the beginning. I thank you Father for your love. Thank you for your Son my friend Jesus Christ and for the lovely Holy Spirit that brings truth to me."

WHAT IS SIN?

Let's look at Genesis 3 about Human Disobedience. Bible (TEV)

VERSE 1 "Now the snake was the most cunning animal that the LORD God had made. The snake asked the woman,  "Did God really tell you not to eat fruit from any tree in the garden? "

 We have a

  • Snake - it is an animal, cunning, it talks and is God's creation. It knew God had warned the woman not to eat fruit from a tree in the garden.

Genesis 1: 24 "Then God commanded, "Let earth produce all kinds of animal life: domestic and wild large and small"- and it was done.

  • LORD God - He created the animal.
John 1:1 "In the beginning the Word already existed; the Word was God.

Genesis 1:2 "..., and the Spirit of God was moving over the water.

  • Woman- She was asked a question by the snake. She cam from Adam's ribs and is God's creation
Genesis 2: 21 "Then the LORD God made a man fall into a deep sleep, and while he was sleeping,  he took out one of the man's ribs and closed up the flesh."

22 "He formed a woman out of the rib and brought her to him"

Why was she formed?
Genesis 2:18 "Then then LORD God said, "It is not good for the man to live alone.  I will make a suitable companion to help him."

  • Tree in the garden -There's fruit and a warning or command to not eat from it.

Genesis 2:8 "Then the LORD God planted a garden in Eden..."

9 "... In the middle of the garden stood the tree gives life and then tree that gives Knowledge of what is good and evil."

16 " He said to him, "You may eat the fruit of any tree in the garden,

17 "except the tree that gives knowledge of what is good and evil. You must not eat the fruit of that tree; if you do, you will die the same day."

VERSE 2 "We may eat the fruit of any tree in the garden, " the woman answered,

  • There is no sign of the woman begin scared of a talking animal which is a Snake
  • The woman answers the snake

VERSE 3 "except the tree in the middle of it. God told us not to eat from that tree or even touch it; If we do, we will die."

  • The woman knew God's law
  • She was replying on Adam's behalf because she said "we","us"
VERSE 4 "The snake replied, "That's not true; you will not die."

  • The snake called God a lair that they won't die.
2 Corinthians 11:3 "I am afraid that your minds will be corrupted and that you will abandon your full and pure devotion to Christine the same way that Eve was deceived by the snake's clever lies."

1 Timothy 2:13 "And it was not Adam who was deceived; it was the woman who was deceived and broke God's law.

VERSE 5 "God said that, because he knows that when you eat it you will be like God and know what is good and evil. "

  • The snake promised the to be like God and know good and evil

16 " He said to him, "You may eat the fruit of any tree in the garden,

17 "except the tree that gives knowledge of what is good and evil. You must not eat the fruit of that tree; if you do, you will die the same day."

VERSE 6 "The woman saw how beautiful the tree was and how good its fruit would be to eat, and she thought how wonderful it would be to become wise. So she took some of the fruit and ate it. Then she gave some to her husband, and he also ate it.

  • The woman saw beauty on the tree
  • The womam had a desire to eat the fruit
  • She thought it would be wonderful to be wise
  • She took the fruit and are it
  • She gave the fruit to her husband
1 John 3:4 "Whoever sins is guilty of breaking God's law, because sin a breaking of the law."

  • Let's looks at her husband,  Adam
Genesis 1:26 "Then God said, "And now we will make human beings; they will be like us and resemble us."

Genesis 2:7 "Then the LORD God took some soil from the ground and formed a man out of it; he breathed life-giving breath into his nostrils and the man began to live."

  • Adam her husband obeyed his wife by taking the fruit and ate it, he disobeyed God
Romans 5:19 "And just as the mass of result of the disobedience of one man,"

Romans 5:12 "Sin came into the world through one man, and his sin brought death with it."

  • The woman trusted and believed the snake that she won't die but will be like God and be wise.

1 Timothy 2:13 "And it was not Adam who was deceived; it was the woman who was deceived and broke God's law.

VERSE 7 "As soon as they had eaten it, they were given understanding and realized that they were naked; so they were naked; so they sewed fig leaves together and covered themselves."

  • It was true there was Knowledge on the tree
Genesis 3:22 "Then the LORD God said, " Now the man has become like one of us and has knowledge of what is good and evil. "

  • It was true they were to be like God.
VERSE 8 " That evening they heard the LORD God walking in the garden,  and they hid from him among the trees."

  • Why did they hid from God? I mean it was in the evening.
  • Did God trust the man and the woman with the tree and his command?
VERSE 9 " But the LORD God called out to the man, "Where are you?"
  • This means God didn't see them

VERSE 10 "He answered, "I heard you in the garden; I was afraid and hid from you,  because I was naked."

  • They covered themselves with figs but still say is naked
  • They were afraid by their creator but were not afraid of the snake.
VERSE 11 "Who told you that you were naked?" God asked. "Did you eat the fruit that I told not to eat?"
  • God didn't know who told him he was naked nor knew he had eaten from the tree.
VERSE 12 "The man answered, "The woman you put here with me gave me fruit, and I ate it."
  • The man blamed God and his wife for his own actions.
VERSE 13 "The LORD God asked the woman, "Why did you do this?" She replied, "The snake tricked me into eating it."
  • The woman blamed the snake for her actions

1 Timothy 2:13 "And it was not Adam who was deceived; it was the woman who was deceived and broke God's law.

THE ANSWER

We find here that sin is disobeying God, that the tree of Knowledge of good and evil brings death.
Sin existed before death.
Sin results in death.
Sin is no law.
Both the man and woman had a choice of obeying someone.

Romans 7:13 " But does this mean that what is good caused my death? By no means! It was sin that did it; by using what is good, sin brought death to me, in order that its true nature as sin might be revealed.

15 " I do not understand what I do; for I don't do what I would like to do; but instead I do what I hate. "

20 "if I do what I don't want to do, this means that I am no longer the one who does it, it is the sin that lives in me."

AND THE SNAKE?

How is it possible for a snake to speak a human language?
How is it possible for a snake to be cunning?
How did it know God commanded that the fruit from the tree of Knowledge of good and evil is to not be eaten?
How did it know that it is true they will like God and be wise?
Why did it lie about about death?
This snake was surely not just an animal. That's another topic

ANOTHER TREE -TREE OF LIFE

Genesis 3:22 " ... He must not be allowed to take fruit from that gives life, eat it and live for ever. "

24 "Then at the east side of the garden he put living creatures and a flaming sword which turned in all directions. This was to keep anyone from coming near the tree that gives life."

This world has a lot of gods who make miracles and have false prophecies that are worshipped.
There is no peace in this world due to these many gods and religion.

2 Thessalonian 2:9 "The Wicked One will come with the power of Satan and perform all kinds of false miracles. "

1 John 4:1 " My dear friends,  do not believe all who claim to have the Spirit, but test them to find out if the spirit they have comes from God. For many false prophets have gone out everywhere. "

Jesus has dealt with sin on the cross now he will be back for the second time to deal with death.

1 John 1:7 "... and the blood of Jesus, his Son, purifies us from every sin.

1 John 5: 18 "We know that none of God's children keep on sinning,  for the Son of God keeps them safe and the Evil One cannot harm them."

This alone is another topic, but now we know what true sin is, It's disobeying God.
