The Triumphant Approach to Jerusalem

Moses was chosen to lead the children of Israel out of Egypt.
Years later when he could not lead them anymore, he
prophesied that another prophet like him would come.

Deuteronomy 18

15 The LORD your God will raise up for you a prophet like me from among you, from your own people. You must listen to him.

16 For this is what you asked of the LORD your God at Horeb on the day of the assembly when you said, “Let us not hear the voice of the LORD our God nor see this great fire anymore, or we will die.”

17The LORD said to me: “What they say is good.

18 I will raise up for them a prophet like you from among their people, and I will put my words in his mouth. He will tell them everything I command him.

19 I myself will call to account anyone who does not listen to my words that the prophet speaks in my name.

20 But a prophet who presumes to speak in my name anything I have not commanded, or a prophet who speaks in the name of other gods, is to be put to death.”

21 You may say to yourselves, “How can we know when a message has not been spoken by the LORD?”

22 If what a prophet proclaims in the name of the LORD does not take place or come true, that is a message the LORD has not spoken. That prophet has spoken presumptuously. No one should be alarmed.

Daniel is in exile for 70 years. He was studing his sarced books and thinking about the 70 years in exile through the prophet Jeremiah. He prayed earnestly, pleading, fasting (that's 3 things to adopt from Daniel when in prayer) and wearing sackcloth and sitting in ashes. He confessed the sins of his people Daniel 9:1-16
Then he asked for God's Restoration vs 17-19. His prayer was interrupted by the angel Gabriel to answer his prayer. I know we not here but check this out

Daniel 9:23 "When you began to plead with God, he answered you. He loves you"

Anyway The restoration was 70 years. The restoration was to restore Jerusalem and the Temple, God's people will be redeemed them from sin and evil. Daniel 24.
7 weeks the temple and Jerusalem will be rebuilt, then it will
stand for 62 weeks.

7 weeks +62 weeks= 69 weeks but before the 1 week left

there's a break. This break is where Jesus fits to complete the
70 weeks of restoration, to redeem sin and evil.

Daniel 9:26 And at the end of that time God's chosen leader
will be killed unjustly. The city (Jerusalem) and the Temple
will be destroyed by the invading army of a powerful ruler.
The end will come like a flood, bringing the war and
destruction which God has prepared.

Then the 1 week left would take place vs 27
The anointed one that would be killed unjustly would be
riding a horse at the end of that 62 weeks before he is killed

Zechariah 9

9 Rejoice greatly, Daughter Zion! Shout, Daughter Jerusalem! See, your king comes to you,  righteous and having salvation, lowly and riding on  donkey, on a colt, the foal of a donkey. The anointed one wowould come from the tribe of Judah

Micah 5

2 “But you, Bethlehem Ephrathah, though you are small among the clansd of Judah, out of you will come for me one who will be ruler over Israel, whose origins are from of old, from ancient times.”

3 Therefore Israel will be abandoned until the time when she who is in labor gives birth and the rest of his brothers return to join the Israelites.

4 He will stand and shepherd his flock in the strength of the LORD, in the majesty of the name of the LORD his God.

The Word became John 1:14
And Micah's prophecy was fulfilled

Luke 2

4 So Joseph also went up from the town of Nazareth in Galilee to Judea, to Bethlehem the town of David, because he belonged to the house and line of David.

5 He went there to register with Mary, who was pledged to be married to him and was expecting a child (Matthew 1:18-25).
6 While they were there, the time came for the baby to be born,

7 and she gave birth to her firstborn, a son.

11 Today in the town of David a Savior has been born to you; he is the Messiah, the Lord.

He was born and was named Jesus as the angel said to Mary, Luke 1:31 You will be one pregnant and give birth to a son, and you will name him Jesus.

Zechariah's prophecy came true

Mark 11

1 As they approached Jerusalem and came to Bethphage and Bethany at the Mount of Olives, Jesus sent two of his disciples,

2 saying to them, “Go to the village ahead of you, and just as you enter it, you will find a colt tied there, which no one has ever ridden. Untie it and bring it here.

3 If anyone asks you, ‘Why are you doing this?’ say, ‘The Lord needs it and will send it back here shortly.’ ”

4 They went and found a colt outside in the street, tied at a doorway. As they untied it,

5 some people standing there asked, “What are you doing, untying that colt?”

6 They answered as Jesus had told them to, and the people let them go.

7 When they brought the colt to Jesus and threw their cloaks over it, he sat on it.

Matthew 21

4 this took place to fulfill what was spoken through the prophet:

5 “Say to Daughter Zion, ‘See, your king comes to you, gentle and riding on a donkey, and on a colt, the foal of a donkey.’

8 A very large crowd spread their cloaks on the road, while others cut branches from the trees and spread them on the road.

9 The crowds that went ahead of him and those thatfollowed shouted,
“Hosanna to the Son of David!”
“Blessed is he who comes in the name of the Lord!”
“Hosanna in the highest heaven!”

John 12

13 They took palm branches and went out to meet him, shouting,
“Hosanna!”
“Blessed is he who comes in the name of the Lord!”
“Blessed is the king of Israel!”

Luke 19

38 “Blessed is the king who comes in the name of the Lord!”
“Peace in heaven and glory in the highest!”

39 Some of the Pharisees in the crowd said to Jesus,
“Teacher, rebuke your disciples!”

40 “I tell you,” he replied, “if they keep quiet, the stones will cry out.”

John 12

17 Now the crowd that was with him when he called Lazarus from the tomb and raised him from the dead continued to spread the word.

18 Many people, because they had heard that he had performed this sign, went out to meet him.

19 So the Pharisees said to one another, “See, this is getting us nowhere. Look how the whole world has gone after him!”

Matthew 21

10 When Jesus entered Jerusalem, the whole city was stirred and asked, “Who is this?”

11 The crowds answered, “This is Jesus, the prophet from Nazareth in Galilee.”

Jesus weeps over Jerusalem

41 As he approached Jerusalem and saw the city, he wept over it

42 and said, “If you, even you, had only known on this day what would bring you peace—but now it is hidden from your eyes.

43 The days will come on you when your enemies will build an
embankment against you and encircle you and them you in on every side.

44 They will dash you to the ground, you and the children within your walls. They will not leave one stone on another, because you did not recognize the time of God’s coming to you.”

Jesus goes to the Temple

Mark 11

11 Jesus entered Jerusalem and went into the temple courts.
He looked around at everything,

Matthew 21

12 Jesus entered the temple courts and drove out all who were buying and selling there. He overturned the tables of the money changers and the benches of those selling doves.

13 “It is written,” he said to them, “ ‘My house will be called a house of prayer,’ but you are making it ‘a den of robbers.’”

14 The blind and the lame came to him at the temple, and he healed them.

15 But when the chief priests and the teachers of the law saw the won derful things he did and the children shouting in the temple courts, “Hosanna to the Son of David,” they were indignant.

16 “Do you hear what these children are saying?” they asked him.
“Yes,” replied Jesus, “have you never read,
“ ‘From the lips of children and infants you have ordained praise’?”

17 And he left them and went out of the city to Bethany, where he spent the night.

Then Jesus prophesied about the destruction Daniel spoke
about, the one week left Matthew 24
