The Abomination That Causes Desolation

Mark 13

  • 1 As he Jesus was leaving the temple, one of his disciples said to him, "Look, Teacher! What massive stones! What magnificent building! "
  • 2 "Do you see all these great buildings?" replied Jesus. "Not one stone here will be left on another; every one will be thrown down."
  • 3 As Jesus was sitting on the Mount of Olives opposite the temple, Peter, James, John and Andrew asked him privately,
  • 4 "Tell us, when will these things happen? And what will be the sign that they are all about to be fulfilled? "

Luke 21:20 You will see Jerusalem being surrounded by armies, you will know its desolation is near. Jesus said 1st they will see Jerusalem surrounded by armies. When they see this the it's desolation is near, not there yet, but near.

Mark 13:14 "When you see 'The abomination that causes desolation standing where it does not belong After seeing the armies surrounding Jerusalem the AOD will stand where it does not belong. Where?

Matthew 24:15 " So when you see standing in the holy place 'the abomination that causes desolation, spoken of through the prophet Daniel It will stand in the temple -let the reader understand- Mark 13:14 also revealed the importance of understanding this prophecy through Daniel

There's Daniel 9 the 70 weeks prophecy to restore Jerusalem and Daniel 11 the Greece empire. This AOD cannot be Daniel 11 due to these reasons

1 When Daniel had this prophecy it was during the Medo-Persia Empire with 3 more kings yet to come to rule the empire and the 4th king was to introduce the Greece empire Daniel 11:2 And now I (the angel) will tell you the truth: Behold, three more kings will arise in Persia, and the forth shall be far richer than them all, by his strength, through his riches, he shall stir up all against the real of Greece.

2 During the Greece empire : After the death of the King of the North [5-19] shall rise another king but will die shortly Daniel 11:20 " There shall arise in his place one who imposes taxes on the glorious kingdom, but within a few days he shall be destroyed, but not in ager or in battle.

Then in his place an invading evil king who has no right to be king Daniel 11:21 And his place shall arise a vile person, to whom they will not give the honor of royalty; but he shall come in peaceably, and size the kingdom by intrigue he set up the AOD Daniel 11:31 And forces shall be mustered by him, and they shall defile the sanctuary fortress, then they shall take away the daily sacrifices and offerings, and place the abomination that causes desolation. and exalt himself as God  Daniel 11:36 "Then the king shall do according to his own will he shall exalt himself as above every god, shall speak blasphemies against the God of gods, and shall prosper till the wrath has been accomplished, for what has been determined shall be done. then die Daniel 11:45 And he shall plant the tents of his palace between the seas and the glorious holy mountain, yet he shall come to his end, and no one will help him.

This prophecy Jesus was referring to is the one on Daniel 9 due to these reasons

1 Jerusalem was to be restored for 70 weeks Daniel 9:24 "Seventy weeks are decreed about your people and your holy city, to finish the transgression, to pu tan end to sin, and to atone for iniquity, to bring in everlasting righteousness, to seal both vision and prophet, and to anoint a most holy place"

2 69 weeks passed before Christ was killed Daniel 9:25 Know therefore and understand that from the going out of the word to restore and build Jerusalem to the coming of an anointed one, a prince, there shall be seven weeks. Then for sixty-two weeks it shall be built again with squares and moat, but in a troubled time.

3 God's chosen leader was to be killed unjustly Daniel 9:26 And after the sixty-two weeks, an anointed one shall be cut off

4 An invading ruler was to make a covenant for 7 years and half that week stop sacrifices and offerings and set up the AOD Daniel 9:27 And he shall make a strong covenant with many for one week, and for half of the week he shall put an end to sacrifice and offering. And on the wing of abominations shall come one who makes desolate, until the decreed end is poured out on the desolator.”

When Jesus Christ was talking the AOD he was not yet glorified on the cross killed for our sins.

1So they see armies surrounding Jerusalem
2 Know the desolation is near
3 See the AOD standing in the holy place
4 we understand which AOD Daniel spoke of.
5 When they see the AOD standing in the holy place it's their cue to flee to the mountains

Luke 21

  • 21 Then let those who are in Judea flee to the mountains, let those in the city get out, and let those in the country not enter the city
  • 22 For this is the time of punishment in fulfilment of all that has been written. Written by who? When? For who? Why?

Matthew 24

  • 17 Let no one on the roof of his house to go down to take anything out of the house
  • 18 Let no one in the field go through to get his cloak
  • 19 How dreadful it will be in those days for pregnant woman and nursing mothers!
  • 20 Pray that your flight will not take place in winter or on the Sabbath
  • 21 For then there will be great distress, unequaled from the beginning of the world until now and never to be equaled again

Luke 21:24 They will fall by the sword and will be taken as prisoners to all the nations. Jerusalem will be trampled on by the Gentiles until the times of the Gentiles are fulfilled.

It's possible that this is referring to Hosea 9 But I don't know

Matthew 24

  • 22 If those days had not been cut short, no one would survive, but for the elect those days will be shortened.
  • 23 At that time if someone says to you 'Look here is the Christ!' or 'You're he is!' do not believe it
  • 24 For false Christs and false prophets Both Christs and prophets was a plural "s" meaning it's not one Christ nor one prophet will appear and perform great signs and miracles to deceive even the elect- if possible Good news for the elect, Jesus said "if possible" so it's possible for the elect to not be deceived

25 See, I have told you ahead of time.
